Job Site Preparation Checklists :: Thermal Conductivity Testing

Below is a list of things which the client needs to confirm and have readily accessible for our testing:

  • Directions to site

  • Well Drillers Report so Atlantic Water Investigations Limited can send it along with the thermal conductivity data at end of test to Ewbanks & Associates

  • Have site level and smooth to back up van with trailer close to well, if site is not accessible for van client needs to have someone with a vehicle to back trailer up to well head, daily rate applies for all standby time

  • Have driller place generator no further than 20 feet from well but not in way of trailer to set up and leave site

  • Have well casing cut flush to ground easier to insulate, otherwise assume heat going back into formation

  • Leave loop pipes each sticking up 4 feet above ground, less than 4 feet makes it difficult to connect plumbing unit to loop

  • Composition of Liquid in loop

  • Make sure loop filled with water/liquid to top of well casing into loop extending above ground

  • Provide power and maintain refueling of generator for test; contractor generator recommended; continuous power needed for entire duration of test, if for any reason there is power interruption (lack of fuel for generator, generator trips out test will need to start allover from beginning, daily rate applies for all standby time)

    • MAKE SURE GENERATOR SET TO 3 PHASE 240 VOLT, OTHERWISE GENERATOR HAS BEEN SET TO 209 VOLTS AT RENTAL OUTLET AND 4500 WATT HEATER WATT ELEMENTS RUN AT 3300 WATTS.

    • Provide a contractor generator For example with a 300 loop system required watts:
      Minimum standard watts: 15 watts/ft * 300 ft = 4500 watts
      Maximum standard watts: 25 watts/ft * 300ft = 7500 watts

    • For example with a 500 loop system required watts:
      Minimum standard watts: 15 watts/ft * 500 ft = 7500 watts
      Maximum standard watts: 25 watts/ft * 500ft = 12500 watts

  • Safety equipment required? Site Orientation Safety Meeting?
